Pet Wellness Exams from Our Spring Hill Vet Care Center
Have you ever put off a physical exam, only to learn some surprising things about your health when you finally visited your doctor? Pets are capable of springing some unhappy news on you in the same manner, unless you're keeping on top of their condition through regular wellness exams. Our Spring Hill vet care center, Westside Animal Clinic, can administer comprehensive pet wellness exams, catching any problems that require attention and making prompt recommendations to help your pet preserve his or her health for many years to come.
Why Wellness Exams Are So Important
If your pet appears healthy and happy, why is it so important for him or her to receive a physical exam on a regularly-scheduled basis? Unlike an exam scheduled to investigate an obvious health concern, a pet wellness exam is administered purely as a preventative measure. Many serious diseases and disorders can hide in a pet's body and it can go unnoticed until symptoms appear. By the time your pet start to show symptoms, serious damage may already have been done. Cancer, hypertension, heart disease, and diabetes are just a few of the more common examples. Annual wellness exams give us a chance to identify and treat these problems before they can cause any more damage.
Some chronic health problems are progressive and irreversible in nature. Osteoarthritis, for instance, naturally causes pain, stiffness, and inflammation in joints that have lost some of their cartilage over time. Vision, hearing, dental, and organ function problems are also more likely to happen as your pet ages. That's why we recommend two wellness exams per year for senior pets (age 7 and older).
High-Quality Vet Care
Any veterinarian on our Spring Hill team will do a thorough job of your pet's routine wellness exam. You can expect us to take the necessary steps, such as:
- Weighing your pet to check for obesity
- Detailed evaluation of the skin, hair, tail, paws, nose, eyes, and ears
- Laboratory tests to check blood, urine, and fecal samples for signs of disease
- Evaluation of your pet's sensory and cognitive abilities
We may also perform any necessary preventative treatments, such as vaccinations, microchipping, and dental examinations/cleanings, during your pet's evaluation, while answering any questions or concerns you may have about your pet's health.
